Austrian electric car manufacturer Kreisel Electric unleashed its newest beast today: the EVEX 910e. This sleek retro-design is essentially a 1967 Porsche 910 converted into a fully electric, wickedly fast supercar. Going from 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of almost 190 mph, the car rivals Tesla’s Model S P100D.
The limited edition 910e is equipped with a state-of-the-art 2-speed automated transmission, which helps the car switch effortlessly between gear ratios, and a custom designed cooling system. It’s all powered by Kreisel’s crown jewel: a 53-kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack that thanks to the car’s lightweight design (it’s just 2,500 pounds) can last up to 217 miles before needing a charge. The total lifespan of the battery is almost 250,000 miles.
For comparison, the Tesla Model S P100D has a 100 kWh battery and can last for 380 miles in ludicrous mode (ridiculously fast). It also goes 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds, and it’s even faster with a gutted interior. But its top speed is only 155 mph, as set by the manufacturer. It’s no doubt that these two would duke it out on the raceway, but the 910e would most likely surpass it on a straightaway.
Kreisel in-home charger can rapidly charge the car’s battery, and also regenerates unused energy back to the house.
Unlike the PS100D, however, the 910e is nowhere near affordable. This is the first commercially available car from Kreisel and being that it is converted from an already rare Porsche, it doesn’t come cheap. The price tag for this supercar is a staggering one million euros, or $1.06 million.
Kreisel was started in 2014 by three brothers out of a small workshop in Freistadt, Austria about 120 miles outside of Vienna. The company has mostly been focused on their batteries but, back in January 2017, they worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger to create another custom recreation.
Schwarzenegger had the team convert the Mercedes G 350 d into an electric powerhouse that can go from 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds — three seconds faster than the original. Even still, no Kreisel design has been as impressive as the 910e, and it is definitely raising the bar for all future e-car design.
